WE ARE AFT

AND WE ARE REBUILDING LAGUARDIA

Explore below to find out why we're rebuilding, who's involved in the project, and the big picture.

WHY WE'RE REBUILDING

“As the AFT embarks on its 100th year, we are continuing our long-standing tradition of advancing the common good.”

- Randi Weingarten, AFT President

AFT doesn’t just advocate for teachers and professionals – we are a voice and a vehicle for all working Americans.

To aid everyone in reaching the American dream, since 2011 we have led partnerships that have created jobs, bettered our country’s infrastructure and improved our economy.

Our latest project, the rebuilding of LaGuardia, will do just that.

THE BIG PICTURE

“This commitment has helped sparked a new, more responsible model of infrastructure investment.”

- CGI-AFT Commitment to Action

The LaGuardia Airport project is only a small part of a much larger commitment to improve the lives of working Americans. We look forward to seeing how this project will get Americans working again, and we hope that this commitment can set a precedent for future partnerships between unions, initiatives and our government.

WHO'S INVOLVED

“This is a reminder of what government and partners can achieve through smart planning and work.”

- President Bill Clinton, Founder of the Clinton Foundation

We’re not at it alone - this project is a joint commitment of AFT, North America's Building Trades Unions and the Clinton Global Initiative. As a union, we know that by bringing together likeminded people, extraordinary goals can be achieved.

Through these partnerships we have been able to turn workers’ pension funds into “an engine for job creation and economic growth.” President Bill Clinton has said that this project “will be a national landmark. In the meanwhile, we need this to lead us into the future.”
